About Me

Lana Alarcon

Certified Resilience Coach

How Can I Help?

I’m  truly passionate about people, about you!  And your innate goodness and the absolute beauty of all of you and your stories (the parts that are easy to adore and the hidden messy parts that exist in all of us). We all have a unique story that stems from our heart, but the noise in today’s world disconnects us. As a Resilience Coach; I’m here to help you embrace your authenticity, develop grit, so that you can hustle with heart and let your vibes speak louder than your words. I’d love to show you how to connect to and share your story.

The Journey West

I was born a world away in Manila; years ago at a time when ‘peace, love, not war’ ruled the American Culture. At six months old my mom and I would make the trans Pacific trek from the Philippines to meet my dad, a US Navy recruit in California.

Growing Up as a Military Brat in an Immigrant Household

As the child of a serviceman, there were many moves and memories where dad was away more than he was at home. As a child of an immigrant family in the 80’s, this would also mean a life of blending into each new place we moved – as an American. But also to stay connected to the root of who we were – Filipino, known worldwide as a culture of service, hospitality and community. There was never a place we lived, where mom (or dad, if he was home) wouldn’t bring home a stray person; found out and about, to have a home cooked meal. One of my favorite parts of these visits was hearing their stories: their challenges and their victories. Connecting to peoples’ stories made the world feel expansive and yet accessible, all at the same time. It made me realize that our authentic stories stem from our heart and that it is our resilience, our GRIT that makes us meet all of life’s challenges.

An Immigrant Dream Realized

The rest of the story is not unlike the peaks and valleys of other families trying to fulfill their own ‘American Dream’. A beautiful life with a loving partner in raising three remarkable kids while balancing a professional business career (some notable highlights include leading a Project Team to install POS systems at Post Offices on the East Coast, as well as starting a Semi-Pro Women’s Soccer team that won the National Championship in it’s Sophomore Season) and projects within the community; all while trying to remain connected to my authentic story, the source of my grit. Sometimes that meant having to explore parts of myself that were hard to face. I tried consistently to model these things for my kids. And to show them that while adaptability is an important trait, it is of utmost importance to be courageously, compassionately, and authentically yourself – to be comfortable outside of the shadows; within your own story. Accepting this and living my truth is what helped build resilience, grit; so that I could meet each of life’s twists and turns by hustling with heart.
